Korason Akademy

Korason Akademy (KA) is an evolving online centre for experiential learning, authentic dialogue, personal growth and the cultivation of healthy community. Rooted in the Korason Method for Authentic Voice & Dialogue, Korasomi (KM-Hakomi integration), and inspired by the ancient Greek Academy as a meeting place for inquiry, practice and meaningful conversation, KA brings together courses, workshops, dialogues, writings, videos and other resources that integrate embodied awareness, psychological understanding, creative expression and spiritual wisdom.

Its purpose is not simply to transmit knowledge, but to create a living field in which people can listen more deeply, discover and express their authentic voice, learn from one another, and develop capacities that contribute to both individual flourishing and the wellbeing of our communities and our world.

The Korason Akademy begins its journey
with its first major offering:

Korason Method Training Russia (KMTR), an in-depth, 10-month professional and experiential training in the Korason Method for Authentic Voice & Dialogue. Beginning  September 23,  2026, the program will bring together an international learning community through 20 bilingual (English–Russian) three-hour Zoom classes. While originally created in response to growing interest in the Korason Method in Russia, the training is open to English-speaking participants from anywhere in the world who would like to join us for this pioneering first year of the Akademy.

KORASON METHOD TRAINING (RUSSIA): 2026–2027
with Hugh Smiley

Discover Your Authentic Voice. Discover What It’s For.

The KMTR is a ten-month experiential and professional journey through the Korason Method (KM) for Authentic Voice & Dialogue and its deeper psycho-spiritual development, Korasomi (integration of KM with the Hakomi Method of Somatic, Mindful Self-Inquiry).

Across 19 three-hour live online classes + one 3-hour review session, participants gradually build a practical repertoire of Korason Method Articulations (KMAs) — combinations of mindful breath, sound, movement, gesture, imagery and awareness. These practices can be used for personal development and adapted to health & resilience, psychotherapy, coaching, education, voice-work and other helping professions & modalities.

But the training has a larger destination.

• The first movement: discovering the instrument

We begin with the body itself: breath, posture, grounding, vibration, resonance and sound.
Participants learn to recognize habitual restrictions and gradually discover a physical voice that can become more natural, easy, free, confident, resonant, impactful and expressive.

Along the way we explore the relationship between voice and the nervous system, emotion, muscular holding, boundaries, the heart, throat and other bodymind centres. Each stage introduces practical KMAs while revisiting earlier practices at greater depth.

• The second movement: listening beneath the voice

As sensitivity develops, sound becomes a means of inquiry.
Rather than simply making a sound, we learn to listen to what emerges through it—sensations, impulses, emotions, images, memories, beliefs and unconscious patterns.

Here Korason begins to become Korasomi:
Principles and practices from Hakomi and mindful somatic psychology deepen the work, while symbolic, imaginal, shamanic and psycho-spiritual dimensions widen its field.

• The third movement: from Authentic Voice to Authentic Dialogue

Eventually a crucial question emerges:
Now that I am discovering my authentic voice—what is it for?

The training therefore moves from sounding, through a now-enhanced physical instrument, toward speaking, listening and relationship – voicing one’s truth.

Participants develop the art of Authentic Dialogue: communicating from embodied awareness, listening deeply to oneself and others, navigating differences and conflict more creatively, supporting trauma healing and participating in wiser individual and collective decision-making.

The geometry: a spiral

KMTR is not nineteen separate workshops and not simply a linear accumulation of techniques. It is a spiral curriculum.

We repeatedly return to breath, body, sound, movement, mindfulness, relationship and the KMAs—but from increasingly mature levels of experience. New material is introduced while previous learning is practised, integrated and applied.
The movement might be expressed simply as:

BODY BREATH SOUND VOICE AWARENESS MEANING RELATIONSHIP DIALOGUE SERVICE

Or more simply still:
Korason gives people an authentic voice.
Korasomi helps them discover what that voice is for.

By the completion of the training, participants should possess not merely a collection of powerful, easily-applicable techniques, but an increasingly embodied capacity to listen, sound, speak, relate and accompany others with greater authenticity, skill and presence.

Students successfully completing the course
will be awarded a diploma from the Korason Akademy.
